Michigan Weather Prediction: 13-20 Inches of Snow On the Way
What’s on tap for the next few months, as far as weather, in Michigan? The past two Michigan winters have been pretty mild, which is good news for me, since I don’t like winter. Here’s the prediction for this year.
According to Fox 2, Michigan is in for a “La Nina setup.” In a regular La Nina year, “we are located in a region that normally gets wetter yet milder conditions,” they state. They also add that they see that happening again for this season, but with colder air this time around.
“Heading into December I see things starting on the ‘milder’ side with most of the precipitation being cold rain and sleet,” Fox 2 adds. “January in these setups is known as ‘The Cold Month’ with multiple blasts of cold polar air.”
As for a Polar Vortex, they predict if it happens, it will take place in mid-to-late January. That mean a lot of, you guessed it, snow. “February is when the snow will arrive and we may see between 13-20 inches in this month alone,” they add. That’s a lot of snow! They also predict for lake effect snow. All in all, we usually have a rough February when it comes to weather, but if that prediction stands, we’re going to have a lot of snow to shovel that month.
