Instagram Announcing New Safety Tools With Younger Users In Mind
Instagram is introducing its first set of parental settings for its platform.
The popular social media app has taken aim at keeping teens safer while using the app by allowing parents to see and limit the time their teens spend on Instagram.
Teens will also be encouraged to explore different topics if they have spent too much time on one particular topic.
Users of the app will also no longer be able to mention or tag teens or kids who don’t follow them.
I know social media can have an impact on an individual’s mental health – no matter their age – but especially for teens, I think helping them to not immerse themselves so much in the fantasy of social media and not compare their lives to the polished presentations they’re bombarded with is definitely a good thing.
