Michigan Has the No. 1 Best College Town in America
Michigan has some great colleges and college towns. I mean, just look at how well our schools are doing in college football. It’s definitely an exciting time to be a Michigander, and I’m proud to be a Spartan graduate. Now, the crew at WalletHub has put together a list of the Best College Towns & Cities in America. Several Michigan towns are on the list.
Coming in as the No. 1 best college town for a “small city” is Ann Arbor, the home of the University of Michigan. They’re No. 2 on the list regardless of city size. Also in the “small city” category, East Lansing, the home of the Spartans, is No. 32. They’re No. 70 overall. Mount Pleasant, Grand Rapids, Dearborn, Ypsilanti, Kalamazoo, Sterling Heights, Warren, Detroit, Lansing and Flint are also on the list.
“Experts have argued that a school’s geographical location is just as important as a strong curriculum and supportive school environment to a student’s academic success and personal development,” WalletHub writes. “It’s in students’ interest to live in a city with a reasonable cost of living, as well as one that provides good academic and work opportunities.
