Serena Williams has announced that she will not be participating in this year’s Australian Open Tournament, per her doctor’s orders.

“Following the advice of my medical team, I have decided to withdraw from this year’s Australian Open,” Williams said in a statement per Twitter.

The 23-Grand Slam champion added, “Melbourne is one of my favorite cities to visit and I look forward to playing at the AO every year. I will miss seeing the fans, but am excited to return and compete at my highest level.”

The Australian Open is one of tennis’ four large tournaments which Serena has been crowned champion of seven times.

The tournament will be held at Melbourne Park in Australia from Jan. 17 through Jan. 30.
