Here’s How to Get a COVID-19 Test in Michigan
It’s no secret that COVID-19 tests are hard to come by. Some of my friends have waited days, even longer, just to get an appointment. That just doesn’t cut it when you’re in a pinch.
If you’re having difficulty finding a COVID-19 testing site in your neck of Michigan, an interactive map from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services could be of service. The map shows medical care in your area, including COVID-19 testing. To use the map, just search for what service you want (ie. If you’re in Detroit, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan recently announced an expansion of COVID testing in the city as omicron spreads. Detroit residents may visit two testing sites for rapid testing: the Joseph Walker Williams Community Center (rapid molecular tests) and Huntington Place (antigen tests), formerly the TCF Center. According to Duggan, they can handle 1,000 appointments a day.
In order to get a COVID-19 test at the locations, you are required to make an appointment and live or work in Detroit. Vaccinations are free. To make an appointment, call 313-230-0505. Another tip is to call your local county’s health department, as many of them have testing set up. Also, check your favorite local drugstores, both national and local, as many of them have testing available.
