NEW YORK – OCTOBER 1: People look at compact disks in a music store October 1, 2004 in New York City. A recent study by the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry (IFPI) shows that after years of losses, there has been an increase in album and music video sales worldwide. According to the report, sales have been decreased over the last four years but have begun making a recovery. In the world’s largest market, North America, sales are up four percent in the first half of the year, compared to a 10 percent drop in 2003. (Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images)

I had to read this headline a couple times just to make sure I read it right. YES, CD sales are up!

There used to be a time when finding CDs in stores felt impossible. Now, the compact disc seems to be making a comeback.

A new report from Billboard revealed that CD sales went up last year and had a big jump since 2004.

Over 40.59 million CDs were sold in 2021, up from 40.16 million sold in 2020.

The biggest selling CD in 2021 was Adele's '30.'

I don't think young people are purchasing CDs by any means, but the older generation still likes popping a CD in and Adele is an artist that's loved by all generations so that doesn't surprise me one bit. I don't remember the last time I bought a CD. I mean, even my grandmother streams music!

However, I do remember a couple of CD's that I owned as a kid such as the NOW! That's What I Call Music compilations, Dre's "2001", Q-Tip's "Amplified" and a few other classics!

Maybe I'll spend the money on a CD sometime in 2022, doubtful though...
