A fixture in the world of stage, television and film since the 1980s, comedian Louie Anderson has passed away at 68 years old after a battle with lymphoma.

The Emmy Award winner is best known for his stand up comedy, his animated series Life With Louie, his cameo appearance in Eddie Murphy’s classic Coming to America and a featured role in the comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

He hosted the television game show Family Feud from 1999-2002.

Anderson was a counselor to troubled children before beginning his comedy career in the 1980s.

Louie Anderson is survived by his two sisters, Lisa and Shanna Anderson.
