Kehlani Responds To Kaalan Walker’s Rape Conviction
Kaalan Walker, who is known for his role in the 2018 film Superfly, has been convicted of raping several women.
NBC Los Angeles reports the former actor and rapper was found guilty of raping six girls, with three of them being 16-year-old aspiring models, in attacks dating back to 2013, but jurors acquitted him of charges involving three other alleged victims. The actor faced accusations from over 30 women.
Kehlani, who reportedly dated the actor previously, issued a statement in 2021 detailing that she knew some of his victims personally. “I am standing with the victims of a serial RAPIST who I know personally to be aggressive, dangerous, and twisted,” she said in a since-deleted tweet, per REVOLT.
Most recently, she went onto her Instagram Story to respond to the verdict: “I did not forget who tore down victims of sexual assault when this came out,” she said. “I did not forget what bloggers and blogs and platforms felt like they had to play neutral and give a rapist a platform for the sake of clicks or views when this came out. I hope all of ya’ll beat your own f—— a– and eat your own words. This man is going to jail for the rest of his life, guilty as hell.”
Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Wallace told jurors that Walker lured some victims by repeatedly promising introductions to celebrities like Drake.
“He talked about Drake, taking her to a Drake party,” she said per the outlet. “What does he tell her? ‘Well, you know what? If you want to do all of these things, if you want to be at parties with Drake, if you want to be a Victoria’s Secret model, you know what we have to do? We have to film a sex tape. He’s a 22-year-old man telling a 16-year-old girl, ‘We have to film a sex tape.’”
Walker is due back in court on May 27 and faces a maximum sentence of 100 years to life in prison.
