A$AP Rocky Released From Jail After Posting $550K Bond
A$AP Rocky has been released on a $550k bond after being arrested Wednesday (April 20) at the Los Angeles International Airport, per CNN.
A$AP (whose real name is Rakim Mayers) was arrested on a charge of “assault with a deadly weapon (firearm)” in connection to a November 2021 shooting, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed via a statement on Twitter.
According to police, last fall, two acquaintances were arguing in the Hollywood section of Los Angeles. “The argument escalated and resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim. The victim sustained a minor injury from the incident and later sought his medical treatment. Following the shooting, the suspect and two additional males fled the area on foot,” police said.
The suspect was later identified as rapper A$AP Rocky.
The case, according to the LAPD, will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
According to multiple reports, the rapper who is expecting a baby with his girlfriend Rihanna was coming back to California from vacation in Barbados when the arrest occurred.
TMZ reports that Rihanna and A$AP were “totally blindsided by cops” when 10 officers were waiting at the private LAX terminal.
