Pharrell’s Something in the Water Festival Returns

Pharrell Wiliams’ Something in the Water festival returns on Juneteenth weekend but this time in Washington D.C.!

The annual festival that is usually hosted in Pharrell’s hometown of Virginia Beach will be moving to D.C. starting June 17-19.

The festival is back after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 and will have a mix of R&B and hip-hop artists including Usher, Lil Baby, Pusha T, and more.

The superstar producer reportedly pulled the festival from Virginia Beach following the death of his cousin Donovon Lynch in 2021. Lynch was shot and killed by Virginia Beach Police Officer Solomon Simmons who was later cleared of all charges in November 2021.

“I love my city, but for far too long it has been run by and with toxic energy,” Williams said in the letter per WAVY. “The toxic energy that changed the narrative several times around the homicide of my cousin, [Donovon] Lynch, a citizen of Virginia, is the same toxic energy that changed the narrative around the mass murder and senseless loss of life at Building Number 2.”

Williams added: “I wish the same energy I’ve felt from Virginia Beach leadership upon losing the festival would have been similarly channeled following the loss of my relative’s life.”

  After it looked as if Nicki would not be on Coi’s newest track, the two dropped their first collab together “Blick Blick.” The music video features the two rappers in a maze-like room with plastic guns. The song dropped March 18, 2022. Watch the music video below:

  “City of Gods” features Fivio Foreign, Kanye West, and Alicia Keys. The song is the lead single on Fivi's debut album B.I.B.L.E which Ye executive produced and is featured on Donda 2.   “Diet Coke” by Pusha T dropped Feb. 8 and was co-produced by Kanye West and 88-Keys. The song prominently features a Fat Joe sample as the rapper yells “yesterday’s price is not today’s price.” “Diet Coke” is featured on Pusha’s album It’s Almost Dry released on April 22, 2022.   “First Class” is the second single off of Jack Harlow’s upcoming album Come Home The Kids Miss You. In “First Class,” Harlow raps about inviting a woman who’s caught his interest in potentially joining the “mile high club.” The song samples Fergie’s 2006 hit “Glamorous.” The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. • 11. "What Happened To Virgil" Lil Durk ft. Gunna

  “What Happened To Virgil” is featured on Lil Durk’s 7220 which features DS4Ever rapper Gunna. The track pays homage to the late designer, Virgil Abloh. Abloh died on November 28, 2021 at 41 after a two-year battle with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
