DaBaby Responds To Felony Assault Charges; Shares Racist Video Of Victim
DaBaby is defending himself against an alleged 2020 music video attack involving him and his entourage allegedly attacking a man named Gary Pagar. The “Suge” rapper says that the alleged victim lied to LAPD and used racial slurs during the encounter.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged DaBaby with felony assault over the incident after he and a member of his crew allegedly sucker-punched Pagar and knocked out his tooth, Rolling Stone reports.
Pagar is a rental property manager and when he went to oversee the property that DaBaby and his management team rented for a music video in 2020, he claimed that 40 people were at the location. This violated the lease that DaBaby and his team had made that there wouldn’t be more than 12 people on the premises at a given time.
Since the rapper was charged with felony assault, the North Carolina-bred rapper shared a TikTok video on Twitter to defend himself.
“Y’all keep beliving these type of people & helping em assassinate my character,” he wrote on Saturday (April 30). “Y’all might as well get a rope & help him hang my black a– on a tree.”
In the video, DaBaby calls out Pager who initially sued the rapper for the alleged assault saying that Pager used the N-word and referred to the people on the property as “f—ing a–holes” and “scumbags.” The rapper also claims that Pager spat on him and lied to TMZ and the LAPD about what happened.
This charge is separate from his 2018 assault charge, which has recently re-entered the news cycle, after Rolling Stone released a video of the fatal Walmart shooting which put some doubt on DaBaby’s claim of self-defense.
