Royal Oak Says NO to Weed at Arts, Beats and Eats.
No Weed at Arts, Beats and Eats 2022!
Well, it might be around unofficially, but according to the MetroTimes, Royal Oak turned down a proposal to sell and use weed at Arts, Beats and Eats. The proposal would have included a consumption lounge to be added to the event. This area would allow both the smoking and sale of weed. The event draws over 400,000 people ever year. And the main concern, with this being a family event, was exposure to second hand smoke. The event is now in its 25th year.
Police Chief Michael Moore noted that most events that have allowed weed were much smaller venues. And to quote Police Chief Michael Moore:
“Out of the law enforcement officials that I personally spoke with, most if not all of them expressed concern with what is before you tonight,”
There is still hope for the future of weed at Arts, Beats and Eats. The vote to turn the proposal down was a narrow vote of 4-3. And with sponsors like House of Dank, the future of marijuana at AB&E could easily flip next year or in coming years.
