Sacramento Police Offer Gas Money For Guns
Would this work here in the D? The Sacramento Police Department is looking to get guns off the street – by offering gas money in exchange.
Over the weekend, the department held a ‘gun buyback’ event, where people could hand in a firearm in exchange for a $50 gas card.
It turned out to be a popular move – they ran out of gas cards within 45 minutes.
Guns were accepted “with no questions asked and no identification required”. Police said several of the weapons were “illegally configured” or so-called “ghost guns”.
$50 would only fill up my tank halfway and in California, it would probably only get me to a quarter of a tank but credit goes to the Sacramento PD for knowing exactly what the public wants during these trying times!
