Arrest Made In Lil Tjay Shooting: Report
Rapper Lil Tjay was shot just after midnight in Edgewater, New Jersey on Wednesday (June 22), gossip site TMZ reported, and apparently, there has not been an arrest in the case.
NorthJersey.com is reporting that suspects in the shooting have now been arrested. “Prosecutors announced the arrest of Mohamed Konate, 27, of New York City, on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, and weapons offenses, accusing the man of firing at the rapper, whose real name is Tione Merritt, as well as Jeffrey Valdez, 24, and Antoine Boyd, 22, both of the Bronx, who were with him.”
Tjay was struck multiple times in the attack, which also injured Boyd, prosecutors told the outlet.
Per the outlet, “Prosecutors had said earlier that one victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition but was by then described as stable, while the other victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and is in ‘good’ condition.” Prosecutors did not indicate in their later announcement if Tjay suffered the more severe injuries. TMZ reported that the rapper underwent emergency surgery, citing law enforcement sources.
Following the incident, Valdez and Boyd were also arrested on weapons possession charges and were being held in Bergen County Jail, according to prosecutors, per NorthJersey.com.
As of Wednesday night, Konate was awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
