Young Thug Reportedly Faces New Gang, Drug & Gun Charges

Young Thug is facing new gang, drug, and gun charges, local news outlet WSBTV reports. The rapper (born Jeffery Williams) has been brought on new indictment charges says the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. They believe this will add to the claim that Thug was the leader of a “criminal street gang.” WSBTV’s Mark Winne obtained the indictment, and learned one of the charges involves a machine gun.

The district attorney’s office said the new charges are against Williams and four other defendants and arose from arrests on March 17 and May 9. The other two defendants in the machine gun count, Martinez Arnold, and Deamonte Kendrick (“Yak Gotti”) have both pleaded not guilty to the May indictment, as has Williams. Yak Gotti’s attorney Jay Abt says the rapper is a “triple platinum recording artist” and not a “criminal” and is looking forward to clearing his name. The new indictment includes all 28 defendants from the May indictment and still focuses on YSL, an organization allegedly founded by Williams and two others. Williams is now facing a new gang charge, new drug charges, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a machine gun, the outlet reports.

Gunna, who is signed to YSL, is currently in jail and facing one count of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) act from the May indictment. The rapper was denied bail twice just like Williams with court dates scheduled for the beginning of next year. Back in May, Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel spoke on the rapper’s innocence: “I’ll tell you the response to any allegation is Mr. Williams committed no crime whatsoever and we will fight to my last drop of blood to clear him.”

The mixtape showcases Drake's diversity in genres in this project by having songs in hip-hop, R&B, and afro beats. Although it is a mixtape, it was viewed by fans and critics as one of the best albums of 2017.
