Christmas Movie Filmed in Michigan
I know it’s way too early to be thinking about Christmas. But, we live in Michigan, so sadly, the cold air will start to move in soon, and we’ll start hearing Christmas music being played everywhere before we know it.
I actually really like Christmas movies. Cheesy, I know, but watching holiday movies is one of my favorite things to do during a snowy December night. Now, one upcoming holiday film was actually filmed in Michigan and will get released this season.
“Christmas at The Holly Hotel” was filmed this past winter at the historic Holly Hotel, which was built way back in 1891. The movie will be released this winter and get a special premiere at the Redford Theater in Detroit on Sunday, December 4. Tickets for the debut run $35 each and may be purchased here. The red carpet premiere will also offer hors d’oeuvres from the Holly Hotel and a special cast meet and greet after the show. The red carpet reception begins at 4 p.m., followed by the movie playing at 5 p.m. and the meet and greet after the film.
The movie’s plot revolves around Kathy, portrayed by Metro Detroit’s Jesi Jensen, who is a food critic in New York City and happy with where her life has taken her. Her parents, who won the Holly Hotel, want her to come home for Christmas. While back at home, she runs into a handsome police officer, portrayed by Ohio’s Joe Kurak, and you can guess where this story is heading.
In addition to the Holly Hotel, “Christmas at The Holly Hotel” was filmed at the Holly Police Department, Battle Alley and Flint’s Bishop International Airport. There’s something extra special about watching a feature film that was filmed in your backyard. For more information on the film, visit its IMDB.com page here.
