Pennsylvania Man Visits Michigan Family, Wins $2.08 Million
It’s always nice to take a family trip, but it’s extra cool if winning $2 million is involved. That’s exactly what happened with a Pennsylvania man who was visiting family in Michigan. I can’t make this stuff up, kids.
A Pennsylvania man actually won a $2.08 million Lotto 47 jackpot while visiting his kin in Michigan last year. The anonymous 59-year-old winner just recently claimed his prize recently, about 11 months after he won. I’m not sure why he waited so long, and the Michigan Lotto doesn’t dish on the details, but at least he didn’t wait so long that the opportunity expired.
“I purchased the ticket while I was in Michigan visiting family,” the winner explained. “When I checked the winning numbers and saw I’d won the jackpot, I was in disbelief! I waited to claim my prize until I had a plan in place for the money.”
The man matched each of the six numbers drawn in the Lotto 47 jackpot: 07-12-22-24-30-37. The drawing took place on Sept. 25, 2021. His ticket was purchased at Shoppers Market Plus, located at 14350 East Nine Mile Road in Warren. I can imagine people will start heading to Shoppers Market Plus now to try their luck at winning a cool $2 million.
So, how did he decide to get his earnings? He’s taking it a one-time lump-sum payment of $1.3 million instead of the annuity. That seems to be what most people do. He hopes to buy a new truck and save the rest of the money for retirement, according to the Michigan Lottery. He sounds like a pretty clear-headed guy.
