NEW YORK, NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 30: Fat Joe attends the 35th Annual Footwear News Achievement Awards on November 30, 2021 in New York City.

Fat Joe has been announced as the host for the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards. According to Billboard, Joe will hit the stage for “Culture’s Biggest Night” on Sept. 30. The show will be taped and aired exclusively on BET on October 4 at 9 p.m. ET.

“This will be the biggest award show in history,” Fat Joe told the outlet. “It’s truly an honor to host and produce the BET Hip Hop Awards, and I can’t thank (BET EVP) Connie (Orlando) and the entire BET family enough for this opportunity.”

“We’re going to celebrate music, culture, and entertainment, honor the biggest and brightest stars in the world, and make this an unforgettable night full of laughs and surprises. Always remember that yesterday’s host is not today’s host.”

“Fat Joe is Hip Hop royalty,” BET EVP Connie Orlando said. “He has represented the art form and the Bronx, the birthplace of Hip Hop, throughout his outstanding musical career. He is a treasured friend of the network, and we’ve loved seeing and supporting his evolution to becoming the superstar he is today.”

“We can’t wait to watch him take the stage with his vivacious energy, standing together with today’s hottest and beloved Hip Hop stars,” Orlando added.

This hosting gig follows the Bronx native’s announcement about his upcoming one-man stand-up comedy show about his life and career. Dave Chappelle will be doing a special introduction for Joe.  Chris Robinson will serve as the show’s director. Magic Lemonade and Roc Nation are co-producing the event.

The “Lean Back” rapper made the announcement last month, “I’m not holding anything back,” he said in a press release per Billboard. “I’ve always taken pride in my storytelling, but we’re about to take it to the next level. I’m grateful to Dave Chappelle, Roc Nation, and Magic Lemonade for their support in sharing my story and helping make this one-man show the biggest event ever.” There has not been an official release date for the comedy show.

However, that’s not all for the Bronx native. He will also be releasing an autobiography soon titled The Book of Jose. The book is billed to “explore how Joe overcame the drug- and violence-scarred South Bronx of the 1980s to blossom into one of the pre-eminent powerhouses of his generation,” per the outlet. The book drops on Nov. 15 and you can watch the rapper host the award show on exclusively on BET on October 4 at 9 p.m. ET.
