Boys and Men Experience More Social Isolation Than Girls and Women, Study Finds
A study in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior found that boys and men experience more social isolation than girls and women.
I will say that this certainly applied to me as a child. I never fit in, I wasn’t invited to parties, I was the weird kid in school. Now that I’m a radio and club DJ, I’ve felt more comfortable being outgoing and out and about!
Those who are not married are disproportionately more affected. I wonder – is this because your partner helps bring the best out of you and gets you out of the house?
Social isolation is associated with poor mental and physical health outcomes as well as increased risk of mortality.
The study showed younger men are more isolated than younger women. I’m willing to bet other teens have the same issue that I did!
