Doja Cat Trolls Fans: ‘I’m Doing Experimental Jazz’
Doja Cat is pulling a fast one on fans, by saying that her upcoming album will be rap free.
Back in May, the Los Angeles native told Elle that her next project will be “I’ve got a lot going on, but it’s coming up,” she said. “I have been getting songs and things sent to me… Oh f—, I wish I could tell people! There’s some really cool stuff that I got sent from friends. They’re all working on beats, and I’m giving them notes and they know what I want, so I’m excited.”
However, in some recent tweets, the Grammy winner seems as though she is switching up her tune (or just trolling).
“I’m doing an R&B album,” Doja wrote, adding in her next tweet, “Straight R&B no rap at all.”

Doja then admitted, “Yall I was lying. I’m doing an experimental jazz album. I thought it would be funny to steer you into believing i was doing r&b cuz i knew it would work but I’m doing experimental jazz now, honest truth.”

She then proceeded to troll once again writing, “jk its r&b.”

Earlier this month, Doja spoke to CR Fashion Book about the brainstorming processes for her next LP, “We just have so many ideas and making those ideas consistent is the challenge right now. I can’t really tell much. I just know there’s a lot going on.”
Doja continued on, sharing how rave culture has inspired her upcoming project. “I’m very into this ’90s German rave kind of vibe right now and it’s really fun,” she shared. “I know that’s kind of the trend at the moment but I loved that stuff as a kid and now that I can express it (obviously, I couldn’t buzz my head and wear a furry bra and have a belly button piercing back then), I’m sort of embracing that. That’s kind of a hint to the album. Rave culture, not house.”
This forthcoming project will follow her Grammy-winning 2021 album Planet Her.
