Is Mercury Retrograde a Real Thing?
So you may have seen people on social media talking about “mercury retrograde” and what you should and shouldn’t do because of it. So what is mercury retrograde?
Three times a year, the planet Mercury appears to travel backward across the sky. We refer to these periods as times when Mercury is in apparent retrograde motion, or simply ”Mercury retrograde.” To those who practice astrology, these times in particular were traditionally associated with confusion, delay, and frustration. Think undelivered love letters, email blunders, and frazzled travel plans! This is an excellent time to reflect on the past, however, and it’s said that intuition is high during these periods. Coincidences can be extraordinary.
That definition comes from Almanac.com.
They say that mercury is the planet of “communication” which is why you see posts like this on Facebook:
I’m not one to buy into things like this but I will say, I’ve had some VERY weird situations happen lately. I almost missed a flight that I should’ve made with no problem, I have been very tired after work and often times take a nap, and a friend of mine and I go through this weird phase of talking all day to not talking for days, usually due to miscommunication and petty arguments. It’s caused me to wonder if this mercury retrograde thing is actually true! I saw another post a few weeks ago saying how you shouldn’t quit your job during this time either. That could bring negative results!
Maybe I’ll wait until after October 2nd to tackle certain things!
