Kanye Previews ‘Grand Theft Auto’-Style Video Game
Kanye might be entering the gaming world once again.
On Wednesday (Sept. 21) Ye shared a clip of a digital game featuring himself onto his Instagram Story. The clip showed a character with a striking resemblance to the rapper roaming around in a Grand Theft Auto-style video game.
The character was dressed in oversized, head-to-toe, oversized black outfits from the YZY Gap Engineered By Balenciaga collection. He was searching through Gap “garbage bags.” Although the teaser looks straight like a scene from GTA, it can easily double as an ad for Gap.

While it’s not confirmed if Ye will be adding video games to his empire, the rapper has tried it once before. Back in 2016, he debuted his “Only One” game inspired by his late mother, Donda West. The game was previewed at the Yeezy Season 3 show and Electronic Entertainment Expo in L.A., but it never saw a release, per Rap-Up.
“The idea of the game is my mom traveling through the gates of heaven,” Ye said at the time. “I just wanna bring as much beauty to the world as possible.”
As for Gap, the rapper recently severed ties with the fashion brand over the failure to produce Yeezy stores among other disagreements, per CNBC.
On Thursday (Sept. 15), West’s lawyer, Nicholas Gravante Jr. told Gap that it “failed to meet its obligations in the companies’ agreement. The agreement included distributing Yeezy products in its stores by the second half of 2021 and creating dedicated Yeezy Gap stores.”
“Yeezy notified Gap of its concerns in August and gave the company a contractually-designated 30 days to cure its breaches,” said Gravante. He added that Gap took no action on the concerns.
“It was always a dream of mine to be at the Gap and to bring the best product possible,” Ye told CNBC’s Closing Bell on Thursday. “Obviously there’s always struggles and back-and-forth when you’re trying to build something new and integrate teams.” The rapper mentioned that he was not involved in conversations involving color choices and couldn’t set the prices he wanted on his projects.
“It was very frustrating. It was very disheartening because I just put everything I had. I put all of my top relationships,” Ye said. “Our agenda, it wasn’t aligned.”
He later called them out once again after posting a legal document stating the trademark restrictions of his Yeezy line now that their partnership has ended.
