Drake & 21 Savage Delay ‘Her Loss’ Album
It’s really “our loss.” Drake and 21 Savage fans are going to have to wait a while for their joint project Her Loss which was set to drop on Friday (Oct. 28). On Wednesday night (Oct. 26) Drake announced on his Instagram story that the album is postponed to next Friday (Nov. 4) because his longtime producer Noah “40” Shehib contracted COVID-19.
“Our brother @OVO40 got COVID while mixing and mastering the crack so he’s resting up and NOVEMBER 4th is HER LOSS day we’ll see you soon,” Drake wrote, per XXL.
The news of Her Loss came via a music video for Drizzy and 21’s most recent collab, “Jimmy Cooks” off of the Toronto rapper’s Honestly, Nevermind album which was released in June. The music video displayed the message “HER LOSS – ALBUM BY DRAKE AND 21 SAVAGE – OCTOBER 28, 2022” across it at the midpoint.
“Jimmy Cooks” is seemingly an ode to Drake’s character Jimmy Brooks that he portrayed on Degrassi: The Next Generation. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 over the summer, making it Drake’s 11th Hot 100 No. 1 and 21 Savage’s second. Honestly, Nevermind debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 making it his 11th No. 1 on the chart.
The rappers have previously collabed on “Knife Talk” off Drake’s album Certified Lover Boy and “Mr. Right Now” off 21 and Metro Boomin’s album Savage Mode II. They’ve also previously dropped singles “Sneakin'” and “Issa” together.
