Get Outdoors This Week!
It’s National Get Outdoors Week, and what better way to celebrate than by spending some time in nature? Whether you’re hiking, biking, fishing, or just taking a leisurely walk, getting outdoors has countless benefits for your physical and mental health. So why not take advantage of the beautiful weather and get outside this week?
The Benefits of Being Outside
There are plenty of reasons to get outside this week (or any week, for that matter). For one, being in nature can help reduce stress and anxiety. A study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology found that participants who took a 90-minute walk in a natural setting had lower levels of rumination (i.e., worrying about things that haven’t happened yet) than those who walked in an urban setting.
In addition to reducing stress, being outdoors has also been shown to improve moods and increase energy levels. One study found that office workers who had access to outdoor spaces reported higher levels of vitality and less fatigue than those who didn’t have access to outdoor spaces. So if you’re feeling run down, a little time in nature might be just what the doctor ordered.
Finally, spending time outdoors can also help improve your sleep quality. A study published in the journal Environmental Science and Technology found that exposure to natural light during the day helped people sleep better at night. So if you’re having trouble sleeping, try spending some time outside during the daytime hours.
So there you have it—three good reasons to get outside this week (or any week). Nature has a way of reducing stress, improving moods, and increasing energy levels, so why not take advantage of the beautiful weather and head outdoors? Trust me from own personal experience, your body (and mind) will thank you for it.
