Michigan: This is the No. 1 Tourist Trap in the State
Michigan has a lot of so-called tourist traps, which might sound like a bad thing, but it’s actualyl a good thing because it means the Mitten has a lot of spots that attract tourism. My favoriet “tourist trap” is probably anything along Lake Michigan, because I love the water.
So, what’s the biggest tourist trap in all of Michigan? The crew at BestLifeOnline.com has put together a list of the biggest tourist traps in each state. In the article, they state, “There are places all over the world that are considered tourist traps, or places where tourists are lured in with the expectation of something great. Sometimes, these attractions can exploit travelers with overpriced goods or services, but other times, they can really live up to the hype. Either way, it’s always good to be aware of what popular and frequently visited locations are considered tourist traps that won’t have much to offer before you travel there.”
So, what’s the biggest tourist trap in Michigan? It’s a place called “The Mystery Spot.” Of the spot, the publication states, “In the same category as The Thing Museum, Mystery Spot in Saint Ignace, Michigan is another one of those wacky roadside attractions that beg you to inquire. Even though the locale is a bit dated, per Tripadvisor user reviews, the ziplines, minigolf, mazes, and optical illusions do delight the kiddos. At the time of publication, Mystery Spot’s website wasn’t working, so what it entails really is quite a mystery.”
As for neighboring states, in Ohio, the biggest tourist trap is the BibleWalk Wax Museum. In Indiana, it’s The World’s Largest Paint Ball, and in Illinois, it’s Super Museum. I haven’t been to any of these tourist destinations, so maybe I should get them on my to-visit list. Find the full list for each state here.
