Cardi B Joins Rosalía for New ‘Despechá’ Remix
As we patiently wait for Cardi B’s sophomore album to drop, the Bronx emcee is giving fans a new offering to hold them over. Cardi hopped on Rosalía’s remix of “Despechá” which dropped Friday (Dec. 16).
Rosalía previously released “Despechá” in July, and followed up with the music video in August. The song is featured on Motomami +, the deluxe of Motomami which dropped in March.
Cardi expressed her excitement for the song in an Instagram post featuring the cover art for the track. “Thank you @rosalia.vt I’m sooo happy we finally got to work together on this song,” she wrote. “Despecha Remix ft me out now.”
This is Cardi’s fourth feature of the year. The “Despechá” remix follows her teaming up with Summer Walker and SZA on “No Love (Extended Version),” Kay Flock for “Shake It,” and GloRilla for “Tomorrow 2.” Cardi has only dropped one lead single this year which was “Hot S—” featuring Lil Durk and Kanye West.
Cardi recently got candid on why there is a delay with releasing her sophomore album. In a recent Instagram Live on Tuesday night (Dec. 6), the rapper said,”I’m just a mom and I do have anxiety. I’ve been having a lot of anxiety, because I know right after I drop my album, I have to go out on tour and I have bad separation anxiety from my kids.”
She added that there is a lot of pressure to do well following her very successful debut album Invasion of Privacy. The LP was released in 2018 and won “Best Rap Album” at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
“I used to love making music, but now, making music to me has become like a job that gives me anxiety,” Cardi B says in the video. “Everybody just critiques everything that I do, that it’s just like…you know, sometimes you just don’t want to do something that may give you that much anxiety. So I just be like, ‘Uh!’ — freezing myself but I have to let that go. I have to release more music — I have to go out there.”
Cardi has yet to announce an official release date for a full-length project.
