Michigan Storm: Here’s Your Area’s Chance of Getting 8 Inches of Snow
By now, you’ve heard that the snow apocalypse is coming by Friday evening (March 3). No matter where you are in lower Michigan, chances are you will be seeing some of the white stuff very soon.
So, what are your chances of getting eight inches or more of snow? It really depends on where you are in lower Michigan and, of course, where this storm ends up tracking. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory for much of lower Michigan through 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday (March 4). Areas of Detroit, Ann Arbor, Jackson, Lansing, Bad Axe, Port Huron and Benton Harbor are under the Winter Storm Warning, while Grand Rapids and Big Rapids are under the Winter Weather Advisory.
As for getting eight inches of snow, the NWS has also Heavy, wet snow moves in this afternoon with the worst conditions this evening and tonight. “Heavy, wet snow moves in this afternoon with the worst conditions this evening and tonight,” the NWS states. “Snowfall rates will eventually overcome mild road temperatures making for a challenging evening commute particularly along I-69 and I-94.” Around 3 p.m. Friday, the NWS issued an update, stating, “Snow has crossed over the MI/IN line into Lower Michigan this afternoon and is moving north. This Indiana DOT truck cam from South Bend shows the snow sticking as heavier bands move toward the I-94 corridor. Expect deteriorating travel conditions.” The good news is that temperatures will be in the 40s on both Saturday or Sunday, which should melt a lot of this mess. Let’s just hold on a few more weeks for spring.
