GloRilla: 1 Dead, 9 Hurt In Stampede At Rapper’s Concert
One person has died and nine others have been injured following a stampede at GloRilla’s Rochester, New York, concert. The concert took place at the Main Street Armory theater over the weekend.
A false report of a shooting first circulated. However, Rochester police lieutenant Nicholas Adams told ABC News, “The injuries appear to be as a result of a large crowd pushing towards the exits following accounts of individuals hearing what they believed to be gunshots.”
Monday morning (March 6), Police Chief David M. Smith reiterated the message during a news briefing per Rolling Stone. He said, “We do not have any evidence of gunshots being fired or of anyone being shot or stabbed at the scene.”
“What began last night as a night of live music and fun for the performer GloRilla ended in tragedy with one person dead and two more fighting for their lives,” Smith said.
The deceased concert-goer was a 33-year-old woman. Of the nine injured, seven people arrived at nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Local police said two have been admitted in critical condition.
“I’m just now hearing about what happened wtf,” GloRilla wrote on Twitter late Sunday night after reports of a shooting first circulated. “Praying everybody is ok.”

Rapper Finesse2Tymes shared the performance bill with GloRilla Sunday night.
So far, police have found no evidence of a shooting. They are still investigating what started the stampede. Smith added the cause might be “possibly crowd size, shots fired, pepper spray and other contributing factors.”
Unfortunately, this is not the first fatal crowd surge in hip-hop in the last couple of years. Back in 2021, Travis Scott's Astroworld concert also faced tragedy when 10 people died due to a crowd surge.
