Drake Releases ‘Search & Rescue,’ Samples Kim Kardashian
Drake dropped his first solo single of 2023 titled “Search & Rescue.” The record is co-produced by Beautifulmvn, Bnyx, Lil Yachty, Noah “40” Shebib, Sadpony, and Wesley Curtis. The Toronto rapper teased the song last week. Shortly after the first verse, you hear Kim Kardashian speaking about she and Kanye’s relationship prior to their divorce.
“I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy, remember that,” Kim is heard saying on the song. The sample comes from the 2021 season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Kim and Kanye officially divorced in March of 2022. They were married for six years after publicly dating in 2012.
Drake and Kanye were in a three-year-long rap beef that stopped in November 2021. They ended up squashing it to promote the release of Gangster’s Disciples co-founder Larry Hoover from prison.
Elsewhere in the song, Drake expresses how he wants to settle down.
“I need someone to be patient with me/Someone to get money, would not take it from me/They don’t even need to be as famous as me/I don’t think I meet ’em at the places I be/But deep down I think about you all day, mami,” he rap-sings.
He will soon hit the road for It’s All A Blur Tour with 21 Savage on June 6 in New Orleans. Drizzy and 21 dropped their collab album Her Loss back in November. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
