Jay-Z Drops New ‘Empire State Of Mind’ Remix
Over the weekend, Jay-Z performed in Paris at the Louis Vuitton Foundation to mark the opening of the “Basquiat x Warhol. Painting Four Hands” exhibition. In addition to the rare performance, the hip-hop icon also previewed a new rendition of his 2009 hit “Empire State of Mind.” That version has been officially released which features Gil Scott-Heron’s iconic I’m New Here song “New York Is Killing Me.”
The original “Empire State Of Mind” features Alicia Keys. The song was nominated for three awards but won Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song at the 53rd Grammy Awards ceremony. The song is found on Jay’s The Blueprint 3.
The Blueprint creator’s latest song before this new remix was his four-minute feature on DJ Khaled’s title track “God Did.” Jay was joined by Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, John Legend, and Fridayy. The song was nominated for Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

Jay-Z made headlines recently when former NFL player O.J. called the rapper out for misquoting him on “Story Of O.J.”
“Well, first of all, [Jay-Z] didn’t say it right,” stated O.J. Simpson in a clip posted on April 7 to the Rare Cloth Apparel Instagram page. “When [legendary attorney Johnnie Cochran] was talking to me about it, and all that was going on was ‘Black, Black, Black.’ I said, ‘Man, f— being Black, this is me. This is about O.J.'”
“It wasn’t about Black or white. It was about, ‘These guys were after me.’ So that’s how that was expressed.” He added, “It wasn’t about, ‘I’m not Black.’ It was about, ‘This ain’t about being Black, this is about me.'”
“The Story of O.J.” earned nominations at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards for Record Of The Year, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video. Jay was nominated for eight total awards that night but did not receive one win.
