Frank Ocean Drops Out As Coachella Headliner
Frank Ocean has pulled out as the headliner for Coachella’s second weekend starting on Friday (April 21). Ocean, who closed out the show Sunday night (April 12), cited a leg injury as the cause of dropping his set for this upcoming weekend in a statement provided by a rep for the singer Variety confirmed. Ocean will be replaced by Blink-182.
The statement reads: “Frank Ocean will not be performing at weekend 2 of Coachella. After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1. Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity. On doctor’s advice, [Ocean] is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”
“‘It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there, and I’ll see you soon.’ — Frank Ocean,” the note concluded.

This announcement follows Ocean’s performance last weekend, where he performed live renditions of hits songs “Novacane,” “Come On World,” “You Can’t Go!,” “Crack Rock,” “Bad Religion,” and “White Ferrari.”
Although fans might have been let down by the recent news, Ocean spoke about the possibility of a new album. He told the audience, “It’s been so long, but I have missed you. I wanna talk about why I’m here, ‘cos it’s not because of a new album — not that there’s not a new album — but there’s not right now.”
“These last couple of years, my life changed so much and my brother and I came to this festival a lot. I feel like I was dragged out here half the time. We were just dancing in that tent to that music and I know he would have been so excited to be here with all of us and I wanted to say thank you for all the support and the love.”
The Channel Orange creator’s brother Ryan Moore (mostly known as Ryan Breaux) died in 2020. He was in a car crash in Los Angeles per the Los Angeles Times. Moore was 18. His friend, Ezekial “Zeek” Bishop, 20, who was driving at the time of the crash. He also died of blunt force injuries, the medical examiner said.
The Long Beach native’s last full project was Blonde back in 2016.
