Usher Eyes Super Bowl Halftime Show: ‘I’d Be A Fool To Say No’
Usher has a confession, and that’s his desire to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show. In an interview with Access Hollywood, the “My Boo” singer said he would jump at the opportunity to perform on the big stage.
“I’d be a fool to say no,” Usher said. “Well, I mean, you know, things line up that we would all hope. You know, one day that moment will happen.”
While Usher hasn’t headlined the event yet, he has been on the stage before. During the Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show in 2011, he joined the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am to perform “OMG.”
He also spoke about how headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show has been on his “bucket list” after praising some of his favorite Halftime Show performances, such as Michael Jackson, Prince, and Dr. Dre.

During an interview with AP News earlier this year, the “Superstar” crooner said that the fact that his name is a part of the discussion is humbling in itself.
“What I am thankful for is the fact that there’s even any conversation about me — period,” he said. “I feel humbled that at this age and this juncture of my life, people still have to ask the question, (even) after all of the No. 1s that I’ve had and all the diamond (selling songs), that I have enough records to perform 15 minutes.”
He added: “If I were ever asked to perform at the Super Bowl, of course I would definitely be into it.”
Rihanna was this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performer, where she performed a medley of 12 of her greatest hits, starting with “Bitch Better Have My Money” and ending with her 2012 hit “Diamonds” while suspended in the air. It was the singer’s first live performance since her 2016 Anti World Tour and the second-most-watched halftime show on record, behind Katy Perry’s 2015 performance.
