Nicki Minaj took it back to her Trinidad roots with her visual for “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” The Queens native gave fans an early Mother’s Day (May 14) gift by posting a clip of the music video on Instagram.

“There’s now a full #RedRubyDaSleeze video on YOUTUBE!!!! It’ll be everywhere else next week. Happy early MOTHER’S DAY,” she wrote in the caption.

The music video finds Nicki showing off her curves in a black swimsuit where she raps on a balcony overlooking the ocean. In other scenes, she is wearing a “red ruby”- colored silk robe. In other footage, she is seen linking up with Basketball Wives star Brooke Bailey as they cruise the island’s city streets.

“Red Ruby da Sleeze,” which debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March, interlopes Lumidee’s 2003 hit “Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh).” Nicki is no stranger to flipping classics. Last year, she got her first Hot 100 No. 1 solo hit with “Super Freaky Girl,” which sampled Rick James’ 1981 song “Super Freak.”

The “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” video follows the rap megastar after she teased her fifth album last week.

“Oh yes fractions warned, SFG did what fractions warned. Red Ruby Da Sleeze MOTHERED so hard & is now the standard. NM5 is the best thing that will come out of 2023 & will raise the bar to new & unreachable heights. NM5 tour will be hailed as ‘genius’. That’s it & that’s all,” Nicki tweeted Wednesday (May 10).

“Red Ruby Da Sleeze” is Nicki’s only solo single of 2023, but she has since collabed with other artists this year. She jumped on Kim Petras’ “Alone” and hopped on a remix with Ice Spice for “Princess Diana.” After she and Ice Spice’s “Princess Diana” collab the two dropped a new EP of , days after the song and its video set social media on fire.
