Metro Detroit Teachers: Free Movies
School’s officially out this week for most students and teachers, if they aren’t out already. And I have good news for teachers and school staff members who have put in that work all year long. You’re going to be able to get free Emagine movie theater tickets every Wednesday for shows before 5:00 PM. All you have to do is provide proof of employment. It starts June 21st through July 20th. That’s pretty cool because the biggest movies of the year come out during the summertime and you can see them for free! So, if you’re available during the day to go check out a movie, make sure that you take advantage if you can.Rick Ross’ Surprise Guest

— HipHopDX (@HipHopDX) June 6, 2023You know, I said I would keep talking about Rick Ross’s car show because he’s provided us with some hilarious sound bites leading up to it. Well, it happened over the weekend and according to the sheriff’s office, despite his neighbors’ concerns, you’ll remember they were trying to stop him from getting permits for the show, it actually was well planned out. They communicated very well with the city and they had everything organized, which it certainly wasn’t the previous year. So, things turned out well with the exception of 19 medical emergencies. And according to Rick, there was also a surprise guest. He took to Instagram and said, “One request I have is someone send me the footage of the gentleman parachuting out of the plane that landed in the backyard during the car show. He had a huge smile on his face, and I said, ‘please, please, please don’t press charges’. Now, if anybody jump the gate in the future, I’m gonna do you dirty. But if you parachute, just let me know what time you jumping.” That’s right. Someone crashed the show by jumping out of a plane and parachuting down into Rick’s backyard where they were then dragged away by security. My thing is, by the time you pay for all of that, the cost of actually parachuting out of a plane, you could have just bought a ticket!Aaliyah TV Special
Detroit’s own baby girl, Aaliyah, passed away almost 22 years ago now. That’s nuts when you think about it. Well, ABC News is going to explore her life in an upcoming one hour special. It’s called Superstar: Aaliyah and they’re going to cover her rise from her teens to her success as a musician. And no doubt they’ll cover her underage marriage to R. Kelly. They can’t tell her story without that. Also, Damon Dash, who was her boyfriend at the time that she passed, is going to be in it along with many others, including Tune Up Man from our sister station next door, 105.9 Kiss-FM! The show will air next Wednesday, June 14th at 10:00 PM. I will definitely check that out.
