What Will Dan Campbell Do to Prevent Another Season False Start?
The Detroit Lions are pretty much the darlings of the NFL right now, and for good reason. What they have is a Cinderella story. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than seeing a team who hasn’t won in years – okay, decades – pull off a winning season. But, what will Dan Campbell do to prevent another season false start? By false start, I mean that dismal first half of the season, where the Lions hardly won any games.
What Will Dan Campbell Do to Prevent Another Season False Start?
During a press conference last week, Campbell talked about what he’s going to do to make sure the Lions have a good first season. If the team had won just one more game during the first season last year, they would have made the playoffs. Every game counts. Every player counts. (Check out the team’s most valuable players under 25 here.)
“Yeah, you go back and forth and that’s something that I’m always thinking about is, how do we do this?” Campbell said during the recent press conference during Lions training camp. “Is there a different approach? Were we too light? Were we too hard? Do we need to have more volume? Do we need to have more intensity? And so, everything right now — it doesn’t necessarily pertain to what you’re asking because we’re so far away from training camp.”
So, what do I think Campbell has to do to help the team win? I actually think it’s about him doing less. Not to say the man doesn’t know things. But, I think the smart people that he’s surrounded himself with can take the Lions to the top this season. Campbell has changed the culture of the Lions. But, he’s not an expert at everything. He really needs to rely on those around him and let them make some of the big decisions.
