Jared Goff Leads the NFL in This Stat
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff had a breakout year in 2022. He had some incredible stats towards the end of the season and played some of the best football of his entire career, including when he was with the Los Angeles Rams. I’m really excited to see what Goff does in 2023, and I’m pretty sure the hype is real. As it turns out, Jared Goff leads the NFL in a certain stat.
My friend Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit points out that the PFF recently listed which quarterbacks were the best at throwing each receiver route in 2022, and Goff was No. 1 when it came to the best comeback route passer. “Only two quarterbacks earned passing grades of at least 80.0 on comeback routes — Jared Goff and Zach Wilson,” Jim Wyman of PFF wrote.

So, Jared Goff leads the NFL at “the comeback.” Reisman explains that, “a comeback route is a 10-15-yard route that’s ended by the receiver turning back to the quarterback and angling their route to the sidelines. Think a curl route, but instead of curling to the inside, you curl to the sidelines.” It’s nice to see Goff and Campbell getting some NFL respect. Find the full article here.
