Aidan Hutchinson Discusses the Detroit Lions Hype Train
Aidan Hutchinson of Michigan was a stellar pick for the Detroit Lions last season. I was personally so happy to see the Lions snag him during the draft, and boy, did he deliver. Now, Hutchinson wants to deliver even better results during his second year with the team. One thing is for sure: He’s not going to let the Detroit Lions hype train get to him.
Detroit Lions Hype Train
“It’s kind of hard not to see it,” he said regarding the hype, via DetroitLions.com, the first day of training camp. “You see it. I think it’s smart … a lot of our guys stay off it. It can get to your head a little bit. We keep that underdog mentality. We haven’t won anything yet. There are a lot of expectations. We still feel like the underdog.” Dan Campbell has said similar things in Detroit Lions training camp, stating, “We’ve got to put the work in and earn it.” Campbell also said, “I think as always, the thing that’s gonna worry you is the hype train.”
But, back to Hutchinson. During training camp, he also talked about what he’s going to do this year to step it up. He’s going to keep it simple. That’s a good tactic, in my opinion.
“I’m not a big believer in doing too many different things,” Hutchinson said. “It’s important to have two to three moves. As long as you can do that at a high level, you probably won’t be blocked. The second you start trying to add this and add that, it complicates the game.” He added, “I think it’s important to keep pass rush simple.”
