Trick Trick has opened a music studio on 8 Mile in south Warren. He’s called the multi-faceted space a “baby Motown”.
Trick Trick Opens “Baby Motown” on 8 Mile
Detroit’s own Trick Trick has officially opened a studio in Warren. He hopes to give young artists some direction and chances that he didn’t have when he was growing up. He says he’s in love with 8 Mile and Warren. The space also has a rehearsal area so he’s hoping to be able to stage small, intimate performances like MTV’s Unplugged series. He also has an area for podcasts and radio broadcasts, a video studio and a mixing room. Trick Trick said you’re looking at ‘baby Motown’ on 8 Mile. We’ll have to see who comes through there.
50 Cent shared some more info about the forthcoming 8 Mile TV series. He says it will modernize the original film which starred Eminem.
50 Cent Tells Us What to Expect From 8 Mile TV Series
Speaking of 8 Mile, 50 gave some updates on his plan to expand the 8 Mile movie into a TV series. He says that he expects it to be as big as the movie itself. 50 explained that the movie showed the business how it was back in the day, so he wants to modernize it and update it for how the industry is now. He still hasn’t said when it’s going to be released.
Tory Lanez is back in court today. After a delay yesterday, he’s expected to be sentenced for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

Tore Lanez was supposed to be sentenced yesterday, but that was postponed until today. There was dozens of letters in support of him, including one from Iggy Azalea, which people were super surprised by. She came out and said that she was told that this was supposed to be read only by the judge and was not going to be made public. She also was asked to write about her genuine experience with him and the type of punishment that she thought he deserved and she said she did just that. Megan Thee Stallion also submitted a statement to the court. She didn’t attend in person. She said she just cannot be in the same room with him again. Megan said every day since Torey shot her, she has not experienced peace. That he lied to anyone who would listen. She also said mercy is for people who have remorse and that he has shown none. Prosecutors said there were aggravating factors, including social media posts, and harassment of Megan after the shooting. We’ll have to see what happens today. He should be getting his sentence this afternoon.
DJ Casper, creator of the “Cha Cha Slide”, passed away at the age of 58 after a long battle with cancer. Casper said he hopes the “Cha Cha Slide” will always serve as a reminder of the power of unity, community and positivity.

And really quickly, DJ Casper, who created the world famous cha-cha slide that’s so big here in the city. He has passed after a long battle with kidney and liver cancer.
