In addition to the cover art, she also released a trailer for her next single, “Demons.” The trailer is featured on her website and is set to release on Friday (Sep. 1). The trailer features actress Christina Ricci, who is best known for her portrayal of Wednesday Adams in the 1991 cult classic The Addams Family. The preview plays on the horror-theme element that Doja has had throughout her album rollout. Ricci plays a homeowner in the suburbs who is being haunted by a demon played by Doja Cat.

So far, Doja has released two songs ahead of Scarlet. The California native released “Attention” in June and “Paint The Town Red” earlier this month. Last week, she teased that something was “coming soon” on her Instagram. The singer posted a photo of a silhouette in devil horns with the caption, “9.1.23 [hourglass emoji].”

Prior to the release of “Paint The Town Red,” the singer got backlash for seemingly being insensitive to her fans.
“If you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or f—— ‘kittenz,’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house,” she wrote in a since-deleted Threads message.
One fan asked for the singer to tell her fanbase that she loves them which Doja Cat responded, “I don’t though cuz I don’t even know y’all.”

She has since spoken about the backlash saying that she has lifted some weight off her shoulders.
“Seeing all these people unfollow me makes me feel like I’ve defeated a large beast that’s been holding me down for so long,” she explained about the ordeal in an Instagram Story last week, per Uproxx. “And it feels like I can reconnect with the people who really matter and love me for who I am and not for who I was. I feel free.”
Scarlet will follow Doja’s Grammy-winning third studio album, Planet Her.
