Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Visual Album Is Reportedly Done
Beyhive, there’s a possibility that we might be getting a Renaissance visual album soon. According to Above The Line, “It’s a visual album movie, but it’s like an art film, and I’ve also heard it’s better than Black Is King,” a source said.
The visual film is reportedly directed by Nadia Lee Cohen. Cohen is a British photographer and filmmaker who has worked with Tyler, The Creator, Kali Uchis, A$AP Rocky, and more. Since the film is allegedly done, why has it not been released? The source says there are two possibilities as to why we have not seen the film.
“I’m guessing the price and lack of replay value for the casual viewer,” the source says, as it is reportedly being shopped around to multiple streamers. Another possibility they suggest is that Beyoncé “didn’t like how it turned out.”
Renaissance was released last July and earned four Grammys. It won Best Dance/Electronic Music Album, Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Plastic Off The Sofa,” Best R&B Song for “Cuff It,” and Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Break My Soul.” After she accepted Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for Renaissance, Beyoncé became the most-awarded artist in Grammys history.

In May, Beyoncé embarked on the Renaissance World Tour having touched stages in France, Germany, Sweden, England, Scotland, Belgium, and more before making her way to Canada and the United States. This is Beyonce’s first tour since her 2018 On The Run II Tour with Jay-Z for their album Everything Is Love. It is also her first solo tour since 2016 when she toured for her album Lemonade.
The album is dedicated to the LGBTQI+ community and her late Uncle Johnny, who died from HIV complications. During her acceptance speech for the Vanguard Award at the 2019 GLAAD Awards, Beyoncé touched on who he was.
“He was brave and unapologetic during a time when this country wasn’t as accepting. And witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever lived. I’m hopeful that his struggle helped to open pathways for other young people to live more freely. LGBTQIA rights are human rights.”
Beyoncé will be performing her three-night sold-out shows in Los Angeles over the weekend. She will be hitting her home city of Houston later this month before the tour concludes in October.

Donald Glover's Swarm "Shade"?

Some fans were convinced that Beyoncé shaded Donald Glover’s Amazon Prime series Swarm when she was performing the Renaissance track “America Has a Problem.” She shouts to the crowd, “Swarm on these hands, n—-!”
The series, which features Dominique Fishback and her mentee Chlöe Bailey, is about the extreme fandom and how it leads Fishback’s character (Andrea) to commit violent acts due to an obsession with a pop star (who seems to resemble Beyoncé). The series came out shortly before Beyoncé hit the road.
However, it could also just be a coincidence that Beyoncé used the word “swarm” and did not call out the series since she is dressed in a bee-inspired stage costume. The “shade” was never addressed by either party publicly.

Beyoncé is known for her visual albums and it is no secret that the Beyhive has wanted a visual component alongside Beyoncé’s Renaissance. However, we’ve never gotten a direct response until now. During her Kentucky tour stop in July, she gave fans an answer. The singer responded, “You are the visuals baby” in a now-viral clip.
