Diddy will receive the Global Icon Award at the MTV VMAs next Tuesday. One person not applauding his accomplishments is Mark Curry who dogged Diddy about returning Bad Boy artists’ publishing rights.
Mark Curry Throws Shade at Diddy
The MTV VMAs are on September 12th and Diddy’s not only gonna be performing for the first time since 2005, he’s also going to be honored with the Global Icon Award. Congratulations to him.
In more Diddy-related news, I told you yesterday how Diddy was offered a nine-figure sum for the Bad Boy artist publishing catalog and he supposedly turned that down and returned the publishing rights back to artists. Well, Mark Curry, who was best known for being on the song “Bad Boy For Life”, had some opinions about Diddy’s gesture and they were not kind. He has written books in the past, dogging Diddy for the treatment of his artists and everything. Curry said his publishing was only worth “about $400”. I will say that his publishing catalog probably isn’t worth as much as Mary J’s. So, it definitely has to be different for each artist. I don’t know. I thought what Diddy was doing was a good thing. But I guess it’s from everyone’s perspective, right? Here’s Mark talking about Diddy… https://twitter.com/Omowale99949437/status/1699464084863750490?s=20

Drake is hinting about when his new album will drop. And a song featuring an AI Drake is eligible for the Grammy Awards.
Drake Hints at New Album Release Date
Everyone thought Drake was going to drop his new album, For All The Dogs, last Friday. But he said, you know, ‘I never said that’. He’s now revealed when the album will be released. Actually, he was hinting to it. He had his hair done with these numbers hanging from his braids and it seems the date it’s going to be released is September 22nd, a couple of weeks from now.
Also, speaking of Drake, there’s an AI track that features him and The Weeknd called “Heart On My Sleeve” and that song is now up for two Grammys. Even though they have never performed on the song. It was composed and arranged by this guy, Ghostwriter, who processed all the vocals via artificial intelligence. Both of the awards the song is eligible for are for writing and for composing rather than performance. So, the Recording Academy CEO said it was absolutely eligible because it was written by a human, even though it wasn’t performed. That’s pretty crazy. If you haven’t heard that AI Drake/Weeknd song, have a listen here… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FapwxsbkLs
