Megan Thee Stallion Campaigns For Mental Health In New Ad
Megan Thee Stallion is prioritizing mental health. She uploaded a new ad placement on her Instagram about her partnership with the non-profit Seize the Awkward, which specializes in conversations surrounding mental health.
“Y’all, it’s okay to not be okay. Reach out to a friend if you see them going through it. Learn how to start the conversation about mental health at SeizeTheAwkward.org. #SeizeTheAwkward,” she captioned the video.
“I’m proud to team up with Seize the Awkward and use my platform to help normalize conversations around mental health,” Megan Thee Stallion said in a statement. “It’s important that we regularly check in on our friends and family and make sure to show empathy, encouragement, and love when they’re struggling. A strong support system can make a powerful difference in someone’s life.”
The Pete & Thomas Foundation
Megan, who launched her own mental health advocacy nonprofit last year, The Pete & Thomas Foundation, honors the memories of her late father, Joseph Pete Jr., and her late mother, Holly Thomas. She also launched the website BadBitchesHaveBadDaysToo.com, which has additional free resources.
“Launching the Pete and Thomas Foundation is easily one of the most significant endeavors that I’ll ever be part of in my career,” the Traumazine rapper said in a press release. “My family raised me to help others and give back, so I’m incredibly proud to be in a position to accomplish that goal. I have a responsibility to use my platform to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who may not have access to resources and support services.”
Last year, the Houston native opened up about her struggles on her song “Anxiety” on her latest LP Traumazine. “They keep sayin’ I should get help/But I don’t even know what I need/They keep sayin’ speak your truth/And at the same time say they don’t believe, man,” she raps on the record. The last line in which she speaks about believing is possibly linked to the 2020 incident in which Tory Lanez shot her in the foot. Social media was divided on whether Megan was telling the truth or not about the incident.
