Motown Winter Blast Marks Super Bowl XL

Downtown Detroit offers so much to do for the entire family, especially during the holiday months. The Monroe Street Midway will be buzzing every weekend.

Monroe Street Midway Has Winter Activities For The Whole Family

Decked Out Detroit has officially returned to the Monroe Street Midway downtown. It runs through January 7th. It’s so cool. Starting this week, they’re going to have winter bumper cars on the rink, it will be lit up in neon at night. You can go down an 80 foot in inner tubes for free, play free “Puck Putt”, which is like hockey/putt-putt golf hybrid game. There’s an arcade with family friendly and classic games, food and drinks, artwork, and more. Kids can have breakfast with Santa, weekends, starting December 2nd through the 23rd. And Santa Claus will also be there seeing kids Thursdays through Sundays, up until December 23rd, on a first come, first served basis. 65th GRAMMY Awards - GRAMMY Celebration

The annual Grammy Awards show will be held February 4th ion Los Angeles. SZA leads all nominees with nine nods.

Grammy Nominations Announced

The Grammy nominations were announced Friday after our show. SZA leads with nine total nominations, totally deserved, including Album, Record and Song of the Year for “Kill Bill”. In the rap division, Drake and 21 Savage, Travis Scott, Nas, Hit-Boy, Metro Boomin, and Killer Mike are all battling out for Best Rap Album. Diddy was nominated in the Progressive R&B category. Nominees for Best Rap Song are Doja Cat’s “Attention”, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World,” Lil Uzi Vert‘s “Just Wanna Rock”. That’s my prediction for who’s going to win that category because it was all over the place, everywhere. Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex” and Killer Mike’s “Scientists & Engineers” collaboration with André 3000 and Future round out the nominees for Best Rap Song. The Hottest Celebrity Women Under 5'3"

They say that “good things come in small packages,” and with these celebrities, that statement holds true. According to Healthline, the average height for women in the United States is about 5 foot 4 inches tall. This average has increased slightly over time, and research relates it to the quality of nutrition in infancy and childhood. The study even links a population’s height to its standard of living.

Even in the fashion world, female fashion models used to have to be at least 5’9″ to get booked for gigs. In the age of inclusion, models of all heights and sizes are walking the runways and appearing in fashion spreads. For example, rising model Gabbriette Bechtel is only 5’4″. Her accomplishments so far include starring in campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Nike, and Savage X Fenty, to name a few. She has also walked the runway for Vera Wang, Diesel, and Dsquared2, and has been featured in CR Fashion Book, Dazed, and Vogue.

For actors and singers, their marketability comes from their image in the cutthroat world of Hollywood. Height can play a factor when it comes to roles that want taller women, but for actresses like Salma Hayek and Lucy Liu who are 5’2″ and 5’3″ respectively, they have received many accolades for their roles in film. A number of short women have even won Oscars for Best Actress, including 4’10” Mary Pickford in 1929, 5’1″ Sissy Spacek in 1980 and 5’1″ Reese Witherspoon in 2005. Two time winners include 5’2″ Sally Field in 1979 and in 1984 and Jodie Foster in 1988 and again in 1991. These female stars don’t let their below average height stop them from being seen and heard in this competitive industry. In fact, some of these stars on this list are regarded as some of the most successful people in the entertainment industry.
