Michigan Tops the List for America’s Most Nosy Neighbors
Having a neighbor can offer some advantages, such as making new friends, receiving invitations to cookouts, and borrowing ingredients when needed. However, it can also bring its share of challenges, particularly when living next to a prying neighbor. Many individuals have encountered situations with intrusive neighbors, ranging from unexpected visits to unwelcome looky-loos.
All Star Home, a home improvement service company, surveyed all states to investigate nosy neighbors. The survey covered various aspects, including neighbors’ activities and Americans’ measures to deal with overly curious neighbors. Each response was assigned a score representing nosy behavior, and the scores were averaged to determine the overall score for each state and city. The final scores were adjusted on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 indicating the highest level of nosiness. Some states were excluded due to a lack of responses, namely Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming.

Michigan claimed the top spot for nosy neighbors, scoring 90 out of 100. Half of the local residents reported catching their neighbors peering over their fences. Furthermore, the survey revealed that Detroit ranked third for having the nosiest neighbors.
Overall, 2 in 5 Americans admitted to experiencing unannounced visits from neighbors, while 1 in 12 encountered neighbors snooping through their mail or packages. Interestingly, snooping was a two-way street, as nearly 2 in 5 Americans confessed to looking up their neighbors’ property values online. Additionally, 3 in 10 people admitted to searching for their neighbors on social media, and 1 in 7 even went as far as looking up their neighbors’ jobs or employers online.
The second and third spots for nosy neighbors are South Carolina and Kentucky, with scores of 87.8 and 85.2. Memphis, TN, Louisville, KY, and Detroit, MI are the cities with the nosiest neighbors.
Meanwhile, New Mexico leads the way with the least nosy neighbors. Minnesota and Washington follow behind with scores of 64.0 and 68.2. Seattle, WA, Los Angeles, CA, and Philadelphia, PA are the cities with the least nosy neighbors.

Living Large: Michigan's Wealthiest Counties
Wealthy areas are the kind of places where you’ll find beautiful homes, well-manicured streets, and a sense of luxury in the air. Along with the stunning residences, these areas offer top-notch services like private schools, exclusive clubs, and upscale shopping centers. Safety is a priority too, with gated communities, private security, and advanced security systems ensuring peace of mind. Of course, you can’t forget about wealthy areas flooded with well-kept parks, golf courses, and country clubs. But what is the wealthiest county in Michigan?
A recent study by SmartAsset shows the wealthiest counties in the U.S. To figure out which counties are rolling in the dough, they looked at investment income, property value, and how much cash each person is raking in on average.
“We started the analysis by calculating the Investment Index for each county by evenly weighing the Ordinary Dividends, Qualified Dividends, and Net Capital Gains. From there, we calculated the Median Home Value and the Per Capita Income for each county, and ranked them on all three metrics,” SmartAsset wrote.
The study revealed that Leelanau County, nestled near Traverse City and known for its wineries along the Lake Michigan coast, takes the crown as Michigan’s wealthiest county. With its picturesque Leelanau Peninsula and a population of approximately 23,000, this small northern Michigan county has the highest per-capita wealth in the state. Nationally, Leelanau County had an overall rank of 266.
