The Detroit City Distillery is returning with Paczki Day Vodka. Ahead of Fat Tuesday, it will go on sale on January 26 at 8 a.m.

"What started as an experiment six years ago making 20 bottles for friends and fam has grown into a statewide sensation among Michigan's Polish community, and this year, we're bringing that tradition nationwide," the company shared on Facebook. "We've partnered with Seelbach's, an online distributor of craft spirits, to get Pączki Day Vodka in the hands of our Polish friends and family across the country!"

Paczki Day Vodka

This year, the Detroit City Distillery has increased its Paczki Day Vodka supply for direct-to-consumer shipping through its new partner, online distributor Seelbach's.

The upcoming collection will feature paczki made with fresh raspberries from New Palace Bakery in Hamtramck. Paczki Day Vodka is priced at $35 per bottle and is available for online purchase at detroitcitydistillery.com/shop. Pick up your order on January 26 at 4:00 p.m. at Detroit City Distillery’s Tasting Room, located at 2462 Riopelle in Detroit's Eastern Market.

On February 10, the Detroit City Distillery will also host a Paczki Day Party at their tasting room. According to their Facebook, they will have Riopelle Street shutdown, and they’ll be celebrating inside and outside. There will be food from Srodek's, paczki from New Palace Bakery, and live music.

Eastern Market Brewing Co. also announced the return of its paczki-inspired beers with two new flavors. They will feature a mixed 4-pack containing two cans each of lemon and cherry flavors.

According to Michigan State University, Paczki Day has been popular in Polish communities across the United States since the early 20th century. Polish immigrants in cities like Detroit, Baltimore (Maryland), Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Chicago, Buffalo, and especially Hamtramck, Michigan, have contributed to its tradition. Hamtramck's Polish bakeries, in particular, have been selling paczki on Fat Tuesday morning.

Recently, Paczki Day has expanded as more people want to join in this tasty holiday. Paczki can now be found in almost every food store, including delis, grocery stores, and bakeries, up to a month before Fat Tuesday.

Date Night Delights: 5 Must-Visit Spots in Detroit

We all want something special on date nights, right? A little adventure, a lot of romance, and memories that will stick with us. Of course, candlelit dinners and riverside strolls are classic, but let's shake things up. Sometimes, the ideal date spot might be closer than we think, hidden in the heart of a neighboring town, waiting to be explored. Detroit, with its charm and its beautiful view of Canada,  truly has a romantic vibe.

The search for the right date night spot can be an exciting adventure. It begins with a desire to break away from the ordinary and embrace new experiences. Whether you're planning a first date, reigniting the spark in a long-term relationship, or stepping out as a couple without the kids, discovering the perfect place involves understanding each other's interests and preferences.

Finding the right date night spot in Detroit

Partners should openly discuss their likes, dislikes, and the kind of experiences they envision for their date night. This mutual understanding can narrow down the options and lead to a more focused search for the ideal venue.

Next, think outside the box. While popular places have their allure, true magic often lies in the lesser-known and unique spots that may be hidden in plain sight. You might be surprised by the charming cafes, quirky art galleries, or cozy parks offering just the ambiance you hoped for.

Moreover, consider shared hobbies and interests. If both partners enjoy art, visit museums or art installations. A nearby botanical garden or scenic trail might be the perfect setting for nature enthusiasts.

Sometimes, it's the intangible factors that make a place special. The right ambiance, friendly staff, and a warm atmosphere can turn an average location into a cherished memory. So, don't be afraid to explore new places, even if they are only a town away.

Check out some of the best date night spots Detroit has to offer.
