In today’s Shannon’s Scoop, a Detroit teacher that was fired For being a rapper puts former students in her music video, Dr. Dre confirms that Eminem has a new album on the way, Lauryn Hill, De La Soul & others getting into the Grammy Hall of Fame!
Detroit Teacher Fired For Her Rap Career Puts Students in Video
Her career as an aspiring rapper caused a teacher to lose her job at Taylor Preparatory High School. Her response was putting her students her music video.
You may have heard about this story locally back in December. Domonique Brown was named Teacher of the Month at Taylor Preparatory High School, and later she lost her job because a parent complained about her side hustle, a rap career under the name Drippin’ Honey.
A parent reached out to the school and said that they had seen her social media and that she was a bad influence because she was a rapper, so she was fired.
She released a video for one of her songs and it features some of the students that she taught, dancing and singing along with her after she found out that she was fired.
She said, “My outside life should not be grounds for termination when it does not interfere with my ability to fulfill my responsibilities as a teacher. My dedication, professionalism and passion for education have always been unwavering, regardless of any personal pursuits I may have.”
Domonique was a teacher for seven years and is pursuing a master’s degree for a doctorate. Like Mean Jean said, putting the kids in the video was a bold move, especially after you’ve already gotten fired. Now these kids are going to be in the video and they’re going to share it and it’s going to go viral and she probably won’t have to go teach again. Check out the video below…
Dr. Dre Confirms There’s a New Eminem Album Coming This Year
If anyone would know what Eminem’s been up to it’s Dr. Dre. Dre confirmed Em has a new album on the way
First of all, let me say this, I called this months ago. Following his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Dr. Dre was on Jimmy Kimmel Live and he shared some news.
Dre said, “Let me explain something to you right now. Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year. And I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show.”
Months ago, I said that you never see him, ever, ever, ever. And then all of a sudden you just start to see him everywhere. I guarantee you he has new music coming out.
I don’t know when the new Eminem album is dropping. But it makes sense since he just released the song and video, “Doomsday Pt. 2”, where he dissed Benzino. Read more about what Dr. Dre had to say on the Jimmy Kimmel show right here.
Albums From Lauryn Hill & De La Soul Going Into Grammy Hall of Fame
Lauryn Hill joins several other artists whose albums are being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame this year.
Lauryn Hill and De La Soul are among those being recognized by the Recording Academy this year for their contributions to hip hop and music.
It was announced yesterday that “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” and “3 Feet High and Rising” will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, alongside classics by Donna Summer, Guns N’ Roses and more.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Novo Theater in Los Angeles on May 21st. Someone tell Lauryn about it now so she’s there. Tell her it’s on the 20th. This isn’t me dogging Lauryn, but she’s got a reputation. I’ve been to shows where she hasn’t showed up.
