Swimply: Swim in Extra Summer Cash Renting Out Your Awesome Pool
People are looking to make extra cash anyway they can in today’s economy. From driving Uber to being online influencers everyone is looking to make an extra buck. Well, if you’re a lucky homeowner with a swimming pool, you can make cash by renting it out on the app Swimply. According to Pool & Hot Tub Alliance there are 10.7 million homes in the U.S. with swimming pools.
Now that’s a lot of pools, but that also means there are many more people without them. A lot of people do not use their pool enough to justify the extra cost. Especially in states like Michigan where the season to partake in summer swimming fun is limited. That is where this app comes in. It helps homeowners make extra cash while pairing people up who need a pool for special occasions for an hourly rate.
Maybe you think your pool area isn’t up to par yet. Maybe you’d like to do a few upgrades to your backyard to wow guests into booking. Check some ideas out here.
What Is Swimply
Swimply is an app that lists homeowners amenities like pools for rent by the hour to those who do not own one. Not only can you rent pools, but you can also rent homes, gyms, & courts like basketball and pickleball courts on your property. You can even rent out a music studio in your home!
How Does it Work
For hosts, you post your space on the website and you get to set the hourly rate for whatever you choose. For bookings & associated fees, according to their website, “the payout amount is the total of the hourly cost, plus charges for extra guests and premium amenities elected, minus any promo codes. The additional Host Service Fee is then deducted last and the remaining amount is what is paid to the Host. The service fees vary by booking, and will be visible in the final total before booking and payment is finalized.”
For legal risk, Swimply also has a ‘Swimply Protection Guarantee‘ that states, “Hosts are protected in the unfortunate event that a Guest is injured during a Swimply reservation and a claim or lawsuit is made against a Host for bodily injury. The program provides protection up to $2,000,000 USD”.
For renters, this video sums up the process of booking. You will pay the hourly rate and per their website, “plus any charges for extra guests and premium amenities, minus any promo codes and credits. The additional Guest Service Fee is added last as a percentage of the base reservation price. The Guest service fee rates vary by booking, and you’ll see this fee on the confirmation page, before finalizing your payment and booking.”

My Thoughts on Swimply
It sounds like this could be a great option for many homeowners to at least get their pool maintenance expenses for the year covered and then some. It is important to make sure that you are aware of the risks, you have proper insurance coverage, and know your current local laws. Also, a great option for people looking to book parties when they may not have access to a pool for birthday parties or just a quick escape. I think I may actually book one for my daughter’s 16th birthday! Have a great summer.
