Ashanti Confirms She’s Pregnant & Engaged

Ashanti and Nelly are starting a family and getting married.

As we mentioned on Shannon’s Scoop this morning, Ashanti had a huge surprise for us. Her and Nelly have finally, finally confirmed that they are pregnant.

We’ve been waiting on that news! Everyone suspected it, and even Ashanti’s mom kind of gave it away, but said that it was their news to share.

The news came in a video that was made in partnership with a fertility company and also with Essence Magazine. It’s this whole skit where she was backstage doing all this stuff and someone’s like, “How much time you need?” And Ashanti responds, “I need nine months.”

And not only that, but in the caption, she said, that she’s celebrating life with her new family and fiancé and that motherhood is something that she always wanted.

So, that was a not very well-kept secret, but what was is that she and Nelly are engaged. I didn’t realize that. Read more below.

Ashanti, 43, is expecting her first baby with Nelly, 49, and revealed that the couple is engaged. Nelly is already dad to son Cornell III, 21, and daughter, Chanelle, 26. The rapper also helped raise niece Sydney and nephew Shawn after his sister, Jackie Donahue died of leukemia at 31 in March 2005.
