Another spot that promises to serve great food, coffee and beer is opening in Downtown Detroit.
As we talked about on Shannon’s Scoop this morning, there is a new beer hall, coffee shop and restaurant set to open in the Financial District in Downtown Detroit this spring. It’s called The Social Brews and it will feature 45 self-pour beer taps, a full bar, kitchen, and coffee shop.
And that is not all. They are going to have rotating chefs with an ever-changing menu. They are encouraging chefs to visit their website to put in a request to cook there.
The Social Brews will be located at 211 Fort St., at the corner of Fort St. and Washington Blvd., near Huntington Place. No opening date has been announced yet.
It sounds so cool, and I know that foodies and aspiring chefs like Mean Jean are going to be all-in to check it out and see all they’ll have to offer. Check out their website at this link and read more below.
Michigan's Top 5 Outrageous Bloody Mary's For Your Enjoyment
When I tell people I LOVE Bloody Mary’s I get one of two responses. Either people hate them with a passion or love them with an equal amount of passion. Now why I do I love a good Bloody Mary? I just love that salty, tangy, spicy taste. Plus, According to TheRealDill.com, they are full of antioxidants and vitamins making them a healthy drink to enjoy. Plus, ironically, they are good to drink as a hangover cure. Now the base mix has to be Zing Zang or it’s hit or miss with house mixes for me. Now some people, including my husband, think I’m crazy because I could drink a Bloody Mary even without liquor in it. I just enjoy them that much.
I think the coolest thing about Bloody Mary’s are that it could be an actual meal if you find the right spot. I’m talking about when they load the top of the Bloody Mary with a bunch of garnishments. Things like sliders, crab legs, chicken wings, cubed cheese, pickles, olives, and anything else that they can stuff in there. Now for me, I like finding these over-the-top Bloody Mary’s for their wow factor because I don’t traditionally eat every single garnishment like most do.
Now my husband and his sisters love a good Michelada. But don’t get those confused with Bloody Mary’s. While both Bloody Mary’s and Michelada’s feature tomato bases and savory flavors their origins, ingredients and liquors are not the same. The Michelada is usually beer-based and tastes refreshing and zesty. A Bloody Mary is thick and vodka-based.
I’ve found 5 over-the-top Bloody Mary’s for you to check out across Michigan. But if you’d like to make your own traditional style Bloody Mary mix from scratch, here’s a 5-star rated recipe from Food.com And if Micheladas are more your jam, here’s a great recipe from FoodieandWine.com

This is in my old neighborhood. While my husband and I have been there, unfortunately we have not tried their ‘Monster Bloody Mary’, but it is what they are known for and people do enjoy it based on the reviews. They are located Downriver at 19400 Northline Rd, Southgate, MI 48195 They do have an extensive food menu with large portions like a 10 pound burger. Be sure to check that out here
Sheesh! What isn’t this one topped with? A soft pretzel with a cup of cheese, pizza, taquito, half a brat, wing dings and more. It even has a bite of cheesecake for dessert. What?!? My husband and I have actually been here. Unfortunately due to user error, we ordered the wrong Bloody Mary. It was basic and we left confused until I realized what we had done. Seating is limited so you may have to wait. But from others reviews online, the Fully Loaded Bloody Mary is fantastic. We plan on making a trip back in to grab the right one. So stop by and see them in the cute town of Manchester at 480 W Main St, Manchester, MI 48158. They do have limited hours and a limited food menu, but do host food trucks as well, so be sure to check those out on their website.
