Gucci Mane’s $2M New Label Offer Sparks Mixed Fan Reviews
Rapper Gucci Mane is launching a new record label So Icy Millionaire and offering two million for two upcoming artists. The news, however, has put some fans in a frenzy.
Gucci Mane posted a video of himself and his wife Keyshia Ka’oir on Instagram and X, formerly Twitter, holding bundles of money in hand and on a table. He revealed that he had launched a new label and wanted one female and one male artist for his label to join.
“Who wanna be tha next millionaire??? I got 2mil ready! 1milli for tha next male SUPERSTAR & 1milli for tha next female SUPERSTAR! The artist shared in the post caption. “I gotta a brand new record label SO ICY MILLIONAIRE! Tag the hottest unsigned artists now & DM ME ! #SoIcyMillionaire.”
However, the proposal sparked some controversy and mixed reactions from fans.
Fan Reactions To Gucci Mane’s Label Launch
Many fans took to the post, suggesting that they would prefer to live longer than to sign with his record label. Some people implied that after signing with the label, the artists will end up in either a penitentiary or a graveyard.
One person wrote, “I’m ok sir I would like to live a lil bit longer.” Another person said, “Will I be signing a life insurance [policy] too?” Someone else jokingly wrote, “Bro shut that label down lol.” One person said, “I would if it wasn’t cursed.”
Apparently, there’s a perception from some fans that his label artists often face unexpected grave situations, as past signees have either faced untimely deaths or ended up incarcerated.
Artists signed to his 1017 Global Music label, with a so-called “curse” said to exist because of the number of them who keep winding up in jail or worse. Several 1017 artists are behind bars on charges including first-degree murder.
Ka’oir recently came to her husband’s defense following the tragic death of his artist Enchanting. Gucci Mane’s tribute post was flooded with conspiracy theories suggesting he was somehow responsible for her passing.
“Leave my husband alone!” Ka’oir wrote. “He signs these artist to help them & give them a better life! I wish it wasn’t like this ! Chant we love you baby girl ! RIH.” But even Ka’oir asked Gucci Mane during the debut episode of her podcast, “Why all your 1017 artists keep going to jail?”
“I was one of those type of artists, I was always going back and forth to jail,” he explained. “I try to help those artists that I feel I see a lot of myself in.” He added, “But I feel like if I’m not helping them, who else gone’ help them? Nobody says that part of the story.”
Of course, Gucci Mane has yet to respond to these comments and claims on his social media posts about the new label launch.
For the most part, several people took to the social media platforms to try and be on his label with some calling it a “blessing” or “a great opportunity.”
“I would love to be signed,” someone wrote followed by a link to their SoundCloud. Another fan said, “Put me on!”
